Hi there!
I’m Joanne and thanks for taking the time to get to know me.
As a young girl, I traveled the world through the characters I read about. I would chase adventures page after page for hours on end. However, I loved to write just as much as I loved to read; to this very day I can’t pick one over the other!
In high school, I took creative writing courses, wrote for the school paper, and took journalism as an elective during my senior year. While most of college is a blur, I do remember a class taught by my favorite professor, Dean Robinson. That semester, I fell in love with conducting research and I knew for certain I would pursue a career in youth-related services.
After college, I spent several years developing youth programs for a national non-profit, where I gained experience writing program proposals and grants. I went on to serve as a student support specialist for a 6-12 school in Boston. In 2015, I began working as a professional writing coach for college and graduate-level students.
Today, I’m the proud mother of two school-aged children and an educator with a specialization in youth program development and education advocacy. In 2020, I established Community Cornerstone LLC to help individuals, families, and schools reimagine and redesign education by providing academic support, re-engagement services, and career exploration opportunities.
